Green Initiatives

Winner of the 2006 Partners for Clean Air Recognition Award, Kalahari Resort is home to the premier meetings and convention destination in the Midwest. As the largest independently owned convention center in Ohio, Kalahari Resort has implemented a wide variety green initiatives including: an AquaRecycle® laundry water recycling and filtration system which conserves an estimated 26 million gallons of water each year, a Texlon transparent roof system which allows natural light in to help heat America’s largest indoor waterpark, a food composting system and much more. With a commitment to green operations, Kalahari Resort offers the best in sustainable meetings and conventions.

Some examples include:
  • Texlon transparent roof system which allows natural light in to help heat America’s largest indoor waterpark
  • Partnership with Clean The World to recycle soap and shampoo products for distribution to impoverished people, helping to prevent the millions of deaths caused by hygiene-related illnesses every day.
  • Low-flow showerheads for guest rooms, reducing water consumption by 2.46 million gallons per year
  • Most advanced lighting control systems in the industry
  • Transition to energy saving flourescent light bulbs
  • Motion sensor lights in public areas
  • Low-flow dishwasher spray heads
  • Upgrading to digital thermostats in guest rooms
  • Low energy consumption water pumps in the park
  • Upgrading exit signage to LED display
  • Installation of massive fans in the Waterpark to lower heating costs by pushing warm air near the ceiling to floor level
  • And much more!
I am a very adventurous person and have been to a lot of resorts, but this one takes them all. When I visited in 2006, I felt like everyone should discover this place: great food, rides, rooms, activities and, best of all, service. In Jan. 2007 I took about 130 of my church friends. Now it's our annual church trip!
